50 days to leave...

Paul Simon wrote there must be 50 ways to leave your lover but for me it took 50 days to leave Blosxom.

Not that Blosxom was bad or anything. I enjoyed the time we had together and we can still be friends ... but ... there's ... another blog engine in my life.

So this is my "Dear Blosxom" letter. I will always cherish our time together but this will be my final Blosxom blog entry. No hard feelings. In fact, the new one looks a lot like you.

Blosxom seems to be working for me quite well now that it started accepting comments. One of the features provides convenience but also brings with it a problem. It organizes each entry by the date it is posted. Each entry is a file, so it just reads the file date. Convenient.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I need to go back and adjust text or fix a spelling error. Mostly recently, I've been adjusting the framework of my setup that affects the way each entry is structured. So when I made a change, the system would rearrange the order of the entries. Problem.

Welcome to Blosxom

Well it's been an interesting week trying to get my open source blog software to play nice on my IIS6 server. I chose blosxom first and foremost because it was perl-driven. I already have perl installed on my server and thought this might be a quick way to get things going.
